The Nokia N900 is the first internet tablet from Nokia that features built-in telephony features. It features the Maemo 5 operating system, GSM and HSDPA network, 3.5-inch 800x480 TFT resistive touch screen, and 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash. (You can see the full specs here.)
HardwareZone gave the N900 a 4 out of 5 rating:
“The N900 has gotten its hardware right, as evident with the comfortable 3.5-inch screen with WVGA resolution for great video playback and adequate audio quality. Its imaging capabilities have also shown above average performance, which should be a great complement to the device's ability to get you connected to upload your images onto photo hosting or social networking sites with ease. The web browsing experience has also presented itself to be decent with fast page rendering, which could also be due to the HSDPA speeds that we enjoyed on the N900.
Looking at the software aspect, we have to say that Maemo's potential is similar to Google Android. With Nokia and its Ovi services working in tandem with its own devices, we should be expecting more Maemo-based apps appearing on the horizon. Though we can't speculate how successful this will be, what we can estimate is that for the Maemo platform to succeed, apps availability and developer support will be the crucial factors. The N900's adoption of Mameo 5 spells new hope for the Finnish company's fast slipping hold of the smartphone market. From Apple's iPhone, to HTC's Android lineup and Samsung's upcoming bada OS, there is no shortage of competition for Nokia.” [HardwareZone | Nokia N900]
Choosing a smartphone is indeed quite confusing nowadays. There are so much choices out there, not only on hardware, but also the software side. Nokia fans will be pleased that this time around, the Nokia internet tablet already has telephony features.
